Scientific Method

Do you want to review the information that we have learned about the scientific method?

Click here for an animation about two classic experiments that review the use of the scientific method.

Or,
click here to view a second animation from BrainPOP. This is a cartoon featuring Tim and Moby who use the scientific method to help them figure out why their fig plant has brown leaves.

Did you view the animations? Did they help increase your understanding of the scientific method and variables?

  1. I viewed both animations and they were both helpful to me. I think that posting links like these throughout the school year will help us a lot!!! :)

  2. The animation video made a lot more sense than the textbook. Now I understand how the experimental swan-neck flasks filled with broth didn't teem with microorganisms!

  4. I get it and it's a really clear way to explain the steps of the sci method and spontaneous generation but I'm still unclear about what makes an experiment bad or invalid. the videos did help though.

  5. That was a cute video. I thought Moby was funny, and it was a much more fun way of learning the scientific method!
Leslie, can we do the fig tree thing in class?
    Just kidding...

  6. I think that the animations are interesting and very helpful... But the robot sounds can get annoying ^_^

ONE MONTH LATER: "What do you know.... and I'm still wearing the same shirt." Lol :D

  8. Yeah,I can agree... Robot voices are annoying! The animation really showed me what the textbook was talking about. It was easier to see it visually.

  10. Me too. I agree that the robot's presence a bit weird. Robots haven't been programmed to have opinions yet, so a robot with feelings doesn't exactly fit with the scene... but otherwise, the video was extremely helpful ^ - ^...

  17. I also used this in elementary school. Brainpop is very helpful in not just science but all subjects. I think all the teachers should use it more often :D
