Now it's more clear why some people have alleregies and others don't. I use to think my brother was weird because he's allergic to trees, pollen, cats and chocolate. So, the large amount of antibodies produced for the allergen causes the mast cell to release histamine, which causes the allergy symptons. That makes more sense than it did before.
Thanks so much for this Leslie, it really helped me better understand what allergies are. I always thought my sister was trying to get attention, but now I know the true reason!
Is this the video we watched in class? The video is not working for me but I think I remember a lot of it. It was really helpful, thanks! I am allergic to pink bubblegum medicine. I also am allergic to dust. (Is that an allergy?)
im allergic to many things but never knew why... ex. apples, pollen, cherries, peaches.....etc. i wonder why some has allergies and others dont though.
I'm not allergic to anything and I now understand why people can become allergic to some things while others aren't. And I totally agree with YuXiao's suggestion! :]
I'm allergic to so many trees and grasses, along with apples, cherries and pineapples. But I had no idea why!

ReplyDeleteThis diagram really helped me understand allergies. However I'm still not very clear on how the histamine works.
